Sean Copeland — Chairman:

At the inception of Hope’s Haven in 2012, Sean joined the organization by becoming an Advisory Board Member with his wife Melissa. Sean was selected to be the Chairperson for The iPad Project, which quickly became one Hope’s Haven’s largest Long Term Impact Projects successfully pledging and outfitting every pediatric oncology bed in Ventura County with an iPad. During that same time, Sean was brought on as an Executive Board Member, and at the beginning of 2015 he started his term as Chairman of the Board for Hope’s Haven. Raised in the Ventura County area, Sean started his professional career as a Property & Casualty Insurance Broker in 2002 by focusing on risk mitigation practices of closely held manufacturing companies. Currently, Sean is an Area Vice President for a division of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co Insurance Brokers (Gallagher SGB-NIA) with offices in Woodland Hills and Camarillo respectively. Sean, his wife Melissa and their daughter Samantha currently live in Thousand Oaks.

Matthew Marien — Vice Chairman:

When Matthew was approached about the ideas, dreams and future of Hope’s Haven, he instantly fell in love with the cause. As with many of the families Hope’s Haven serves, Matthew and his family have dealt with the devastation a serious illness can sometimes bring. He truly believes the work of Hope’s Haven can alleviate some of these hardships. Matthew is employed by the State of California and is a proud graduate of the University of California Los Angeles. He resides in Ventura County with his beautiful wife and son. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys the outdoors and competing in various forms of endurance sports.

Christopher Passmore — Treasurer:

Chris is an audit partner with Martini, Iosue & Akpovi. He specializes in assurance and business consulting services to emerging and middle market companies. While Chris services a wide variety of clients, he has developed a reputation as an expert in working with manufacturers, professional services, franchised businesses and benefit plans. After earning a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Chris spent several years working with publicly and privately held businesses while at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chris also completed the Master of Business Administration program at Pepperdine University. As part of the Master’s program, Chris attended the prestigious Global Enterprise Management Program at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Dave Pomerantz

Dave and his wife Kelly have been Hope’s Haven volunteers since 2013.For a few years, they regularly donated the use of their photo booth for both fundraising and VIP events. Dave also took a leadership role in planning and executing a VIP Event for Hope’s Haven families with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In October of 2015 they were invited to join Hope’s Haven’s advisory board and in May of 2016, Dave was offered a seat on the Executive Board.

Dave has been married to Kelly since 2013, and they have one son, named Carter. He spends his days at Advantek, a family-owned manufacturer and wholesaler of pet containment products. He has been with the company since its founding in 2004 and was recently named President of the company. In his free time, Dave is a passionate fan of Dodger Baseball and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, hiking and camping with his family.

Melissa Copeland

Melissa joined the Hope’s Haven Board of Directors at its inception in 2012, becoming an Executive Board Member in 2013. She has been the co-chair for our annual gala four years running, and also heads up the marketing committee.

When she is not volunteering for Hope’s Haven, Melissa runs her own design business, Franny Bee Designs, specializing in custom event invitations and stationery. Previously she was the Sales & Marketing Coordinator at Gallagher SGB-NIA. Melissa grew up in the San Fernando Valley, graduated from Loyola Marymount University and currently resides in Thousand Oaks with her husband Sean and daughter Samantha.

Tom Means — Chairman Emeritus:

In 2012, Tom was instrumental in founding Hope’s Haven’s Board of Directors, and he served as the Chairman of the Board from 2012 through 2014. Tom and the other founding board members discovered that Ventura County was void of children’s support organizations, and they vowed to fill that void. He continues to be an active member of the Board of Directors, and you are sure to see him at any of the Hope’s Haven events and fundraisers.

When not volunteering for Hope’s Haven, Tom is the CEO of Pacific Coast Health and serves as President of KMS Insurance Solutions. Tom has been in the Health and Life Insurance industry for 15 years, focusing on employee benefits and health care consulting for a variety local and regional businesses. Tom graduated from the University of Southern California, where he majored in Business Communication, and he later earned his MBA from California Lutheran University. He has close ties to Ventura County, as he was raised in Santa Rosa Valley, and currently works and resides in Westlake Village.
